Fucking Kelly Hard   
I was tired, very tired. Tired of working, tired of fighting, tired of always feeling like I've fucked up somehow. I sat on the couch and stared at the blank TV screen like it held a prophecy. It didn't, but I stared at it anyway. Then I jumped about a foot in the air when she walked into the room. I gaped at her, flipping through a mental file. Somebody's kid. She was somebody's kid. She smiled at me politely.
"I apologize for startling you, Mr. Alexander," she said. "I'm usually gone by the time you're home. You're early today." I nodded and dropped back down to the couch. "I'm sorry, Kelly, I forgot my wife hired you. I've been a little out of it lately." The girl nodded sympathetically. "Are you hungry? Coffee, maybe?" I felt a rumble that reminded me I'd missed lunch. I looked at her. She seemed so sincere. "Uh...yeah," I said. "If it's no trouble." She assured me it was no trouble at all, and whisked back into the kitchen. I stared after her. She must be about 18 now, and a far cry from the gawky kid with the braces that rode her bike up and down the sidewalk years ago. I sat and thought about time and its passing and how it sometimes corrodes the very foundation of a life...and thankfully Kelly called me to the kitchen. |

Our First Adventure   
I'm 33 years old. My husband and I have been married for a little over five years. The first four and a half were great, but the last six months have really been incredible.
